Remember, Remember, the 2nd of November

If you aren't going to vote, I don't wanna hear you complain about the government. Actually I never want to hear you complain but that's beside the point. Obama said it himself to close his session with Jon Stewart, "Can I make a plug here, just to vote,"

Notice: he did not say vote all democrat (although obviously he wants that) but my point being, it was almost a plea. The president is begging his own country just to get out and vote. Let's think about this, a lot of countries are fighting for their right to vote. Our country is helping countries fight for their right to vote. And yet, come election day, thousands upon thousands of Americans sit on their asses and don't vote. Why? I don't understand, it makes no sense to me.

"My hope in this election is that, people who vote on the basis of what they think is right and have integrity and aren't just thinking of the next election but are thinking of the next generation, they are rewarded" President Barrack Obama

It's like when I'm doing my daily creepin' on Facebook and I come to somebody who has "none" or "hate them" as their political views.

Bull. Shit.

Everybody has political views! They may not think about them, they may not recognize them as such, but if they have an opinion on anything they have a political view. The line, "I hate politics?" Well so do I, I can't stand them, but you know what? Politics are there whether you like them or not. And not only that, they govern your life.

That's the whole idea get it? You can't escape it, it is literally impossible. No place in the world is devoid of politics or some (albeit perhaps makeshift or ludicrous) form of government. So why should you not be involved with them simply because you hate them? That's all the more reason to get involved. If everyone who disliked something in our government spoke up, it could only fuel the effort to fix it.

Not voting as a form of protesting something is retarded. Plain and simple. Nobody hears that you don't vote, all you're doing is making sure that you aren't represented in your own government. I don't care who you vote for, (I mean, I have people I wish you would vote for) but just the fact that you're voting is important. If a lot of people truly believe that something is right for our country and I don't think so... oh well, if that many people support it, it must have some benefits to the country.

If you didn't catch my point yet, here it is in a single sentence. On November 2nd, go vote in the midterm elections for who you believe will best benefit your state and country. Non-voting complainers will be bitch-slapped.

People Should Stick to What They're Good At.. Ahem Kanye, *Cough Cough

Kanye West is good at rapping and producing. Not writing movies, not singing, and DEFINITELY not acting. I'm not saying that if you're a rapper, you have to stick to rapping, if you're good at acting, go for it. Will Smith pulled it off. So did Eminem, Common, and hell, Will.i.am wasn't too bad in X-Men. All I'm saying is just because you're famous, doesn't mean you're good at all things that can possibly get a person famous. I'll give Yeezy this, the dance the ballerinas do to that song he "sang" at the VMA's about assholes and dueschbags was pretty good, but honestly? How much weed was the boy smoking when his mind conceived this video?

This artistic new direction Kanye is going for could definitely work and I'm all for him expanding his horizons. This is not, I REPEAT, not, the way to go about doing that. If you can't act, attempting to act will only make you look retarded. If you wanna out-do Gaga in the strange video department you best be prepared to get crazy. Again, this didn't do that. Sure it's weird, but it's missing any charm, any edge that would possibly keep somebody entertained for 33 minutes. This was no Telephone and surely wasn't The Wall or Thriller.

It's a shame really because usually Kanye's videos are pretty decent (Jesus Walks? remember that?) Not an abundance of scantly clad chicks humping expensive cars. Yet I'm not sure how much control he had with the artistic direction.

This movie is another sign that he is taking the path to the darkside.

Luckily, Monster, his first single off the new album, while being different and new, is still rap and offers a glimmer of hope in the shadow of this video. I can't lie, I was a big fan of College Dropout and Late Registration. Graduation was meh, okay (Stronger was cool) but 808's & Heartbreak?

HATE!

He didn't try to expand what he already was good at, producing phat hip-hop beats and rapping, he threw all that out and made experimental hip-hop-esque beats and sang through a vocoder. Just listening to the album made me feel icky on the inside.

This movie is another sign that he is taking the path to the darkside. But that's from the standpoint of a movie viewer. The songs seem to be in way a return to old form, combing his new artistic direction with what we know and love from him. Once the songs are isolated from this hodgepodge of strangeness, he could definitely have a potential hit.

There's Something Very Wrong With This Country

Amidst all the campaign ads floating around the television and internet this time of year I have discovered something: politics suck. I'm not saying this as in politics suck, I want no part in them, I'm saying politics suck, I want a bigger part in them.

Honestly, how can I say the country is working in our best interests when it doesn't even know what I want or how I feel? I don't get to choose the laws or bills; I have to sit back and hope these guys up in the court houses decide that they feel the same as me. But who the hell are these guys? America boasts the claim that we're a democratic state, and what's democracy?

Democracy comes from the Greek word that means "for the people."

I'm a people! persons, person... I'm one of those people and I don't see anybody for me. You know why? Because we live in a society where only a portion of the people are represented. NOTICE: I take neither the side of the Republican or Democrat, because really, I think the whole Republican/Democrat thing is a terrible crippling parasite on our government. Why do we only have two parties? There isn't only two sides to each issue. You can't just flip a coin and say heads is democrat, tails is republican. It's more of a twenty sided die... maybe two or three.

I know what you're thinking, 'Doh, we have the Green Party, Libertarian Party and stuff and you can be independent,' well you CAN be. But it has little effect on government as a whole. The two party system is so engrained within our country that any figure in a non "major" party will be overlooked. That's like saying you can either try to support Justin Beiber or Lady Gaga and if you don't want that there are some local bands that may suite your needs. IT'S JUST NOT ON THE SAME LEVEL!!!

We then take a single dude (or dudette) from either one party or the other and tell them to work in the countries best interests...

How the hell are they supposed to do that?  Nearly 40% of the nation will be unhappy with them at all times simply because they label themselves as one party or the other. That means they have about 60% going for them. In college, you know what 60% percent gets you? A FAIL! (I pulled the percentage out of my ass but I bet it's fairly accurate.)

Obviously, this is an issue that unless we plan on overthrowing the government sometime soon will not be changed but that doesn't change the fact that it is a problem with our society. America, free to make your own choices? Yeah right.

Free Weezy! Free Weezy! Or not...

Let's be honest, does it really matter that Lil Wayne has been in jail for a couple of months? I Am Not A Human Being came out (WITH A MUSIC VIDEO) while he was in the slammer. Don't get me wrong, I like Weezy's music, even Rebirth. I'm also not saying he shouldn't be in jail. He broke the law, I'm glad he didn't get off Lindsay Lohan style. (I guess there's no rehab for gun addicts)

But honestly, he's still raking in the dough, his popularity has probably done nothing but increased during his stay in the prison. As my friend (who hates rap) said the other night when I told him that Wayne was in jail, "Well that's good, now when he raps about being a criminal, he won't be lying."

Very true.

The claim that he's not a human being may just be more accurate then it first appears. His popularity is astounding, catchy songs with ridiculous lyrics. (Let's see how many lines he can go ending in the same word)  But what really sets him apart from all the other rappers is... ah shit, I don't even know. But htat's the beauty of it really, he just does what he wants and we all love him for it (don't tell me people don't like him because the record sales prove otherwise.)

He's set to be released on November fourth, but I can't see that making much of a difference on anything.

At this point Wayne is like Tupac, in the fact that if he were to die tomorrow, Birdman (I suppose he'd be the guy) would have enough material to release Tha Carter IV, V, VI, VII, VIII and IX for the next fifteen years.

Even if you hate tha dude, you gotta respect his work ethic.
